to run at a speed of 60 kms. per hour, how it can be possible in
Himalayan region? If he say that a certain distance requires affixed
amount of fuel, even that is not applicable as the fuel requirement in
the hills is different. And for this same reason, we will have to move
out of a single solution approach, and so we have highlighted this
issue in the Presidential address. We want that all the States of the
Himalayan range be brought together and their problems resolved.
Is it possible to devise a minimum common arrangement for them?
This is an age of World Trade, hence coastal development is
important. How fast have the shorelines developed? Our Indian
coastline can become the entry point of progress and development.

think was about the small fishermen. We need to extend our thought

want the coastal States to come together. There should be sharing
of views on Coastal development, there should be discussion on
problem solving and better coordination. The States need to become
each other’s strength and share their experiences of development.
The Indian coastline is very long. We have been bestowed with such
a geographic location that we can become a major maritime force
connecting the east to the west. But we did not take the necessary
initiatives in that direction. Sri Lanka is a small island nation yet
it is an important centre of Maritime trade. On the other hand is
Singapore. And at a time when China is building ports in Pakistan,
